MAAWS was honored with the 2015 Human Rights Peace Award on June 14, 2015 by the United Movement Human Rights, a human rights organization in Bangladesh. The award and ceremony were part of a seminar on the topic of “Duties and Responsibilities of Public Representative to Establish Human Rights” at the Central Public Library in Shahbag, Dhaka.
Happy New Year! In 2014 we have accomplish so much with your support. To date the MAAWS Health Complex has seen almost 5,000 patients. The Eye Health Camps have treated 699 patients and provided 72 patients with free cataract surgeries in 2013 & 2014. We have installed 297 drinking water tube wells in part of our drinking and sanitation program in 5 areas around Bangladesh. We have opened a brand new burn unit to treat burn victims and acid attack victims.
On November 26, we were proud of to host members of IMANA Medical Relief Team from the the US at the MAAWS Health Complex in Senbagh, Noakhali, Bangladeshi. Drs. Ismail Mehr, Khalique Zahir, Alex Kaminsky, Syed Shamsuddin, and Mohammad Salaluddin Mollah visited and met with our physicians and staff in addition to consulting cleft lip and acid attack victim patients in our new Noor Jahan Burn Center.
